Abandon Kansas is a GROSSLY underrated band. With a unique sound that is both catchy and deep, they should be much more known than they are.
I discovered them one year in Alternative Press’s “100 bands you need to know in…” issues. I don’t remember exactly which year it is, around 2010 or 2011 most likely. Other than that very small, discrete feature, I haven’t seem them in any media since, which is a real shame.
The first thing I listened to by Abandon Kansas is their EP entitled “We’re All Going Somewhere” and it is still my favourite.
While the entire EP is excellent, this is my personal favourite.
The whole EP has a similar feel to this song. It’s deep, and almost has a bit of an earthy feel to it, if that even makes sense. It’s all incredibly catchy and the lyrics are not so simple and direct to tell you exactly what they’re trying to say, but not so mysterious that you’re left wondering either. There are a lot of clever lines that are used and it all feels very meaningful to me.
