I think one of THE most underrated bands of this generation is Enter Shikari. They were orginially formed in 1999 under a different name, before becoming Enter Shikari in 2003.
Fun fact: They have had the SAME members since the addition of Rory Clewlow in 2003. This is extremely impressive as bands seem to be a revolving door of members these days.
Their most popular song by far is “Sorry, You’re Not A Winner”
While this song is a hit for good reason – it’s fun, heavy, and catchy all at once – it’s No Sleep Tonight that really made me fall in love with them.
While not as heavy as “Sorry, You’re Not A Winner” it is just as intense. It’s fast, catchy, and has an almost frantic feel to it. I really appreciate the raw emotion that just seems to engulf this song entirely. You can feel it throughout, however it is really evidenced mainly in the chorus but also other areas, by the the screechy voice cracks. Maybe some don’t like this, but I think it adds a huge level of authenticity and emphasizes the sort of desperate undertone this song has.
When it comes to Enter Shikari you don’t ‘simply listen; you fully experience their music. They are really exceptionally unique and are paving a new path in the alternative/rock genre.
