Underrated Band: The Promise Hero – Old School Punk/Rock

The Promise Hero is a band that I’ve been following on and off for a few years now. They have a pretty interesting story, and an old school punk kind of sound that is really worth listening to.

Some History

The Promise Hero was created in 2006 and included included Vocalist Bobby Vaughn, guitarist Daniel Weiss, bassist Kevin Buchanan, and drummer Dan Evans in the original line up. It was with these members that the band recorded and released their Debut, self-titled EP, The Promise Hero.

Shortly after this was released they replaced the bassist and drummer with Jeff DiLorenzo and Frank Fini, respectively.

Their Debut full length album Wait For the Sun was released in 2008. In support of this album, they spent the summer of 2009 selling it to people waiting in line for the Vans Warped Tour. Having been to Warped Tour myself for many, many years, I’ve seen and spoken to many bands who do this. They typically seem to enjoy themselves and I would imagine they do fairly well if their music is good. I once saw a guy sell to three people in row who were in front of me in line.

In 2010 all members but Bobby Vaughn left for “personal reasons” but Bobby continued writing music under the same name. He released album Deja Vu” in 2013.

A very established sound

From the debut EP in 2008 to their most recent full length released in 2013, their sound has remained very much the same, which I think is a good thing in this case. Many bands evolve and change their sound from album to album, but some stay more or less the same, and I personally think there is nothing wrong with this (as long as the sound is good!).

They have a very raw, punk/rock crossover kind of sound that is just bubbling over with energy and has a bit of an old school kind of vibe.
